The Last 9th of October was held the IADC Drilling Africa Conference and Exhibition, the first IADC conference for the Africa region. A large number of people coming from this vital E&P region gathered in Lisbon during these two days.

VAM Drilling participation consisted of a technical paper presentation by William Gamisans, titled “2nd Generation Drill Pipe Riser (DPR): A Step Change in Performance for Deepwater Intervention”. This paper details the development process for the 2nd generation Drill Pipe Riser (DPR), just a few years after the successful deployment of the 1st generation DPR intervention for Brazil deepwater fields. This new generation of metal-to-metal seal drill pipe riser is currently being considered for several West African offshore fields.
